Christmas House Decorating Contest Finalists Selected

26th Annual Christmas Decorating Contests

The Top 10 House Contenders and "Worth Seeing" addresses are as follows. The public is invited to visit and enjoy the beauty and originality of the decorated homes throughout the holiday season. The Island is divided into nine areas for the House Contest with a judging team evaluating every home on every street on Marco. The judging teams rotate to a different zone each season. Winners are not eligible to win again for a five year period.

The annual House and Business Decorating Contest is in its 26 ^th year with continuous sponsorship since its beginning by Lee County Electric Cooperative. (LCEC). This year the Preliminary Judging was done on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 9, 10, and 11 from 6:30 PM - 10:30 PM each night.

The Final Judging is scheduled for Friday, December 13 from 6:30 PM - 10:00. The judges' bus leaves the parking lot of Iberia Bank at 6:15 PM following the committee's kickoff tailgate party that sets in motion a high energy of Christmas Spirit for the entire community. Traditionally, a car caravan follows the bus to get a first hand view of the Top 10 Homes.

All owners of the Top 10 Homes receive a plaque and the overall winner receives the coveted "yard sign" and a special winner's plaque. House and Business contest winners each also receive a NEW "Traveling Trophy" that will move on the to next winner annually. The house décor winner will also receive Iberia Bank's "Christmas Spirit Award" which is a $100 Lowe's Gift Card. The business décor winner will also receive the Naples Botanical Garden Award-a package of exterior lights..

Said Committee Dave Rice, "over 1700 homes and 100 businesses were decorated." Businesses were judged on their exterior decorations and the winner receives a plaque and a Yard Sign on December 14. Many previous winners display their yard sign annually and continue to decorate in the spirit of the season.
